Dressing up to keep warm!

As much as I love clothes, I definitely don't like wearing so much in order to keep warm in the winter! It has been quite cold here in Philadelphia the past few weeks and now we have a ton of snow on the ground! We all know what snow turns into: brown wet slush that is disgusting to walk in!

Because we have to put on so many layers to go out into the cold weather I think it is important to look fashionable while doing so! Even though winter coats are expensive, pick a good one! You need something that will last you a few years but will be comfortable and stylish! I never leave my apartment without my scarf and gloves, key accessories to keep my toasty!

Up and Running!

My Etsy account is up and running!! I only have a few things listed so far but I am quite happy with how everything has been turning out! (Luckily I bough enough material of everything to make myself some things!) I only have one of everything that is listed so if you love it you better buy it before someone else does!!

Here is what I have listed so far:

The collar scarf I introduced around Christmas time!

Plan of Action!

Over the past few months I have had many people ask about what I plan on doing with my designs and encouraging me to sell them! I'm finally getting everything in place to start an online store and sell Laurie Anne originals! I also plan on entering items to sell in the Drexel University D&M kiosk! I'm starting slow and seeing how things work but I am so excited to start getting my name out there!

This process has made me look through all of the scrap fabric and fun notions I have and boy is it bringing back memories! Buttons from my middle school years and fabric from when I was 9! I'm super excited to bring all of these together to make a new creation that I can share with all of you! Its so much fun to look through my bins of sewing materials and relive those memories!

Sneak peek :) You guessed it! Sequins, beads, lace and much more! I even had custom tags made! Talk about making dreams a reality! Stay tuned to know when everything will be set for sale! :)

My Role as a SA VA Intern!

As I have talked about before, I am an intern for the woman's boutique SA VA. Rather than working in the actual store, I work upstairs with the rest of the design/production team planning and making the beautiful garments that are sold in the store! Not only have I learned a lot as an intern but I have had a great time being completely hands on with the rest of the staff! Everything at SA VA is made right here in Philadelphia so I literally get to see every step it takes to create a gorgeous piece of clothing.

On my very first day at SA VA I was asked to make an Erica dress. It was a dress that was already designed and sold in the stores but they needed one for a fashion show that was going to happen in a few weeks. On my first day I got to make a dress that would be shown to many!

When I first started as an intern with SA VA they were getting ready for their Natvie Gypsy fashion show which was held right in the middle of Sansom Street! It was super busy getting ready for the show so I actually got to construct garments that went down the runway!

My Knit Scarves!

For Thanksgiving I made my mom a long, knit tube scarf like you see in just about every store this time of year. Partly because it is so versatile and comfortable and partly because she loves everything I make, she told all of her friends about it! She decided that for Christmas she wanted to give a few of her friends knit scarves and obviously asked me to make them!

I decided to change the scarf so it would be unique and something I actually thought of instead of copying every thing else. I bought heavy knits and made a shorter tube scarf that is more like a turtle neck. It doesn't wrap multiple times which makes it great as an accessory to wear all day instead of just outside! I gathered  the back seam to add a little more interest and fun!

I made three for my mom to give as gifts and actually got asked for more! I ended up making four more and selling them! They are easy and fun to make and definitely stylish!
